Trip to the Badger State

This blog will be in the 3rd person

Day 1 (Dec. 29)
Ginnie arrives at the Atlanta airport at 5:30am because her sister, Kat, had a 7am flight to Pennsylvania to visit with their family for new years. However, Ginnie's flight to Wisconsin was not until 12:30pm. Luckily, she got an earlier flight which left at 9:15am. She boarded the plane and thankfully had two seats all to herself. Unfortunately after they got into the air, the man at the end of a three seater who was seated next to a woman and her child, neither of which spoke any english, asked if he could sit next to her. He was about 5' 7", early/mid thirties, balding. She understood and allowed him to sit next to her. He plugged in his headphones and attempted to relax. Then, he ordered a cranberry and vodka on the rocks... with two more little bottles of vodka. Ginnie naturally assumed that he was afraid of flying and kept to herself and her book.

Two hours later they arrived at Milwaukee airport, a quaint little airport roughly half the size of Atlanta's. Ginnie found her way to the baggage claim and called her boyfriend, David, to find out where he was. He was about five minutes from the airport, so Ginnie met him outside. When she stepped out with her luggage in tow, she was disappointed to find no snow on the ground and only 40 degree weather. What a bummer.

David drove Ginnie to the house he once grew up in. His mother had an obsession with the Victorian era. The outside of the house was baby/ocean blue with white trim. The inside was maroon... everywhere. David's room was extremely tiny - light navy blue with some historic map like wallpaper.

Thankfully, only one, er, two family members were home- Rachel and her baby, Ben. After a semi-quick introduction Ginnie and David took a much needed nap. Afterwards, they woke up to grab a bite to eat at fancy itialian restaurant, deCarlo. When they returned, Ginnie met David's father.

After a long chat, they ate their left overs and went to the bar where Ginnie kicked David's ass in pool. After a few rounds, Ginnie decided it was time to go back to the house where she could meet David's mother and other sister, Bekah. The meeting a short as David and Ginnie were going out to another few bars. While out, Ginnie learned the art of playing darts, which she became exceedingly good at... but has yet to win a game.

They visited Doug, long-time friend of David's and went out to another bar, Rookie's, to play more darts. :) Afterwards, they ate at George Webbs... just think Waffle House and you'll have a good idea.

Day 2 (Dec. 30th)
Ginnie and David slept in til 11 and ran a few errands due to the fact that Ginnie's jeans had a huge hole in the ass, and then they made their way to Madsion, Wisconsin, the captial and home of the Badgers. After a tour of the city and complicated campus, Ginnie and Dave visited the capital building. She was amazed at the beauty of the building, inside and out! She felt as if she was walking to the Cistine Chapel.

Afterwards, David took Ginnie to a few stores so that she could buy a Wisconsin shirt and shorts that said Badgers across the ass since she already has David's that say Wisconsin. Lunch was at State Street Brauts - delicious! David then took her to Jordan's Big 10 Pub. Again, a few rounds of pool and darts. Then, the most amazing thing happened... buses made rounds to the bars to pick up patrons to take them to the hockey game!!!!! David and Ginnie boarded the school bus and were taken to the hockey game. Badgers won 3 -0 against the friars from somewhere. They returned to the bar and played more darts while watching the Washington Redskins/New York Giants (if Washington won then the Packers would go to the playoffs... a big game in Wisconsin) and the Georgia/Va Tech game. It was very intense in the bar.

Day 3 (Dec. 31st - New Year's Eve)
David took Ginnie to Cousin's a very good sub place like Blimpie or Subway... except better. Afterwards, David took Ginnie to the Pottawotamee (sp?) the local casino. They won $40 bucks... 20 each. After the fun and games, they went home to change into their New Year attire and left to meet his eldest sister, Theresa and her husband and kids. The kids were a little hyper and very cute. Theresa and Dana were very nice. They made a great couple... high school sweethearts. Afterwards Ginnie and David left for Doug's party and stayed for about 10 mins (since they had stayed so long at his sister's). They later made their way to another party. There Ginnie met David's good friend Tom Woods (Mr. Woods as his close friends call him) and his girl friend Cere. They threw a small but great party where we enjoyed ourselves. Ginnie and David played scattagories as a team.. and won!!!! David, Tom and Ginnie all played a round or two of cut throat pool.

Day 4 (Jan. 1st - New Year's Day)
Since David and Ginner were at Cere's parent's place, they cleaned up after themselves and were going to leave early, but her parents wanted them to stay for breakfast and watch the Wisconsin vs. Arkansas game. Wisconsin won... it was great. When they finally arrived at David's place, they were greeted with a wonderful prime rib dinner his mother had made even though she wasn't feel very well. Ginnie felt bad that she did so much for us. The dinner was excellent!!!

Day 5 (Jan 2nd)
Ginnie and David woke up around 9 and left for their home in Georgia.
